LIVE BY NIGHT

We took a maximalist approach to the signage in this Prohibition-era film, particularly for the many scenes set in Ybor City, Florida. Doing so provided a lively contrast to the more staid environment of Boston.

BIG FISH

In telling the story of Edward Bloom, we had the opportunity to explore the 1950s through present day. I think I managed to keep our signwriter (the excellent Mike Monckton) busy for the run of the show. The making of the film was an epic story of its own. Alabama’s temperamental weather kept us all on our toes. We had to evacuate the circus one day due to tornado warnings. Another time our supervising art director took a boat out to retrieve set pieces that floated away when the river rose earlier than anticipated. That said, I’m told Spectre still stands!
